JEALOUS MAN CONFESSED OF KILLING LOVER AFTER FINDING ABOUT HER INFIDELITY

On January 12, 2012, CRIME DIGEST reported that one Adeola Agbarin allegedly killed his girlfriend, Martha Farinmade, in Lagos because he suspected her of infidelity.
Initially, when Agbarin was arrested by the police, he denied knowledge of the lady’s death. He made up stories to exonerate himself, at first implicating Damilare Shadipe, with whom he had thought his girlfriend was having an affair.
He told the police that Shadipe was the last person to have seen the deceased. Later, he said there was the possibility that the deceased was accosted on her way back to church.
However, on the Febrary 2, 2012, Agbarin confessed to killing Martha in the presence of the police and sympathisers.
At about noon on that day, Agbarin was led in handcuffs to his residence, the scene of the crime, by homicide detectives led by Deputy Superintendent Sola Agoyi. The presence of security men soon drew a curious crowd. Also present at the suspect’s Awoyokun residence were the deceased’s relatives, including her mother, sister and brother.
At the scene of the murder, the suspect finally opened up and confessed to the murder.
Agbarin told the law enforcement agents that he beat his girlfriend to death out of jealousy. He said, “Martha slapped me because I asked her about the boy I met in her shop. When she did that, I responded by knocking her head on the wall. She became unconscious and died.
“When I saw she was dead, I carried her body on my shoulder and went to dump in the gutter of her house at NO. 30 Majolagbe. Nobody saw me when I was doing this.”
Agbarin showed the police exact spot where he hit Martha’s head on the wall. He explained how he moved Martha’s corpse from his house to the gutter where she was found.
While making his confession, Agbarin pointed at the exact place he dumped her body.
The Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Joseph Jaiyeoba confirmed that the police had received the suspect’s confession.
“Yes it is true Agbarin has confessed to the crime. We have concluded investigation on the matter. He will be charged to court soon,” he said
